George Easter Returns to LCFC as Women’s GM & First Team Head Coach

We are excited to welcome back George Easter as the new Women’s General Manager, and First Team Head Coach for the 2022 Season!

George has over 12 years of coaching experience and has been coaching in the Women’s game for the last 3 years. Last season, he served as the Head Coach for the Detroit City FC Women’s Reserve team and was named the Great Lakes Conference 2021 Coach of the Year, after leading the DCFC Reserves to a UWS League 2 Conference Title. Before leaving for DCFC, George served as Reserve Team Head Coach of our Women’s side that competed in the Michigan Premier Soccer League in 2019 and Head Coach in the shortened 2020 season.

George also served as Associate Head Coach for the University of Michigan – Dearborn Women’s Soccer Program in 2021 and has been coaching Youth Club and Girls High School Varsity Soccer for the past decade. He also holds various coaching licenses, including his USSF National C License.

“I’ve always thought Livonia City FC has so much potential. The talent in the area is some of the best in the state, so leaving the club back in 2020 was a tough decision to make. That being said, God always has a plan for us, and his plan for me was to come back to LCFC and help the Women’s Program reach the next level. So I’m looking forward to building upon the history this club has already made in this large, yet small, Michigan Soccer community. We are looking at 2022 as the year that will hopefully be a strong rebuild year for both our Men’s and Women’s sides.” – Coach George

Club President, Ben Lightner added: “We’re very happy to bring George back to the club and are looking forward to working with him again, knowing he’ll be a great addition to our already awesome coaching staff.”

George will lead the Women’s side as they return for their second season in UWS League Two. So far, Corktown Hawks, Legends FC, Grand Haven Admirals, Michigan Jaguars, and the Michigan Stars are confirmed as our conference opponents. More information on final conference alignment and tryouts will be available soon.

A former player with Spring Arbor University, Brown currently serves as Assistant Coach for SAU under Head Coach, Marco Bernardini. He also has previous coaching experience with the University of Saint Francis (IN) and Fort Wayne Sport Club. Matthew Brown had this to say: “First, I want to thank God for everything he’s done for me to get to this point and for all that He will continue to do along this journey. I also want to thank my wife, Faith, and my daughter, Myla. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them in my corner and cheering for me along the way.

Lastly, I want to thank Ben Lightner and Ben Rode for giving me this opportunity. I’m beyond excited to take over as the Head Coach for LCFC. This club is special and it has continued to show excellence through adversity. I know there’s work still to be done to get the club back to where it can be, but I am confident that the team, the rest of the coaching staff, and myself can get the club back to its winning ways.”

Brown is a Toronto, Canada native and currently resides in Spring Arbor with his wife and daughter.

More news on the rest of our coaching staff for 2022 will be announced shortly and keep an eye out on our social media for our men’s tryout announcement later this week!

I know the ladies were disappointed with not getting to play an official season last summer so they have been working hard to prepare for this season.

Even though things still aren’t quite back to normal, we are excited to be part of a rapidly expanding league. As GM, Head coach, and #girldad it brings me great pleasure to be able to be part of this incredible growth in women’s soccer.

This summer promises to be filled with excitement and I look forward to leading the ladies to a very successful season!”

Match Recap | LCFC Men Perform Well in 2-1 Loss

Livonia, MI (May 15th, 2021) – Our Men had a strong performance last night but were ultimately unable to capitalize on their chances in a 2-1 loss to Michigan Stars U23 (1-0-0, 3 points). By failing to secure any points, LCFC fall to 0-2-2, with 2 points in league play which puts them at 4th place in the East Division.

In the first few minutes of the match, the Stars looked dangerous in the final third. Robert Dameron showed great effort in making a double save to halt a dangerous Stars attack, but just minutes later the Stars were able to finish at the far post to start off the scoring.

LCFC responded well and had multiple chances on net, including a Caleb Dupree shot that rattled the post. With about 10 minutes before halftime, Thomas Dono was able to cap off a dominant few minutes by scoring a brilliant goal in his first appearance of the season. Pressuring the Stars backline, Dono was able to pluck the ball out of the air away from a defender and curl his shot over the goalkeeper’s head from 20 yards out.

Although we looked even stronger in the second half and held the majority of possession, the boys were unable to find another goal while giving up a second goal late in the second half. Both Kyle Breitmeyer and Ivan Panergo had opportunities to tie things up late in the match but were both unlucky to not score.

Head Coach, Gaven King:

To no fault to the team as a whole, we fought hard for 90+ minutes. We did have a few costly mistakes that we’ll need to clean up going forward in order to get the results we need.

It was great to have some of the younger players starting and coming off the bench getting experience at this level. Seeing how they came out and performed, the future is definitely bright for the club. I’m especially proud of Thomas Dono, who scored a fantastic goal in his first game back with the club.”

Match Notes:

  • Robert Dameron did well in goal in his first league match of the season, before being replaced by Zach Shuk in the 2nd half.

  • Mitchell Jones, Nyle Ellis, Thomas Dono, and Caleb Dupree all made their first league starts of the season
  • Mac Bechard returned from injury to make his first league appearance of the season as a second-half sub
  • Calvin Kalemaj gave off the bench in the second half to make his first club appearance
