Livonia City FC has announced the hiring of Matthew Brown as U23 Head Coach for the 2021 season. Matthew is a welcome addition to the club, as he will help develop our U23 players in the Michigan Premier Soccer League (MPSL) Premier Division and MPSL League Cup. He will also serve as an assistant coach under Gavin King with the men’s first team.
A Spring Arbor University men’s soccer alum, Matthew is currently an assistant coach for the SAU men’s staff under head coach, Josh Oakley. Before SAU, he has stops at the University of Saint Francis (IN) and Fort Wayne Sport Club. Matthew currently holds a USSF F Coaching License.
Club President, Craig Beebe, said: “We are so happy to welcome Matthew to the club. He’ll be a major help for coach King and our player development. The MPSL is still a competitive league that we want to win and with Matthew’s leadership, we hope it’ll lead to more U23 players being brought up to the first team.”
Matthew added: “I’m excited to join Livonia City. I’m looking forward to learning and growing as a coach, and ready for this new challenge. This is a special club and I’m so thankful for the opportunity. I can’t wait for a Summer full of quality football and hopefully a few pieces of silverware.”
A Toronto, Canada native, Matthew currently resides in Spring Arbor with his wife Faith and their daughter Myla.
