MWPL Match Preview | LCFC vs. LK St. Clair

Livonia (Saturday, June 5th, 2021) – Our men head into their 8th match of the MWPL season, coming off of a difficult last 2 weeks, where we failed to score in two matches.

On Saturday, May 22nd, we traveled to the West side of the state to face off against BIH Grand Rapids. While it was a well-played match by both sides, it ended in a 0-0 draw. Last weekend, we hosted a very strong Detroit City FC U23 side and were unfortunately blanked 5-0.

The boys look to turn things around as they’re still in search of their first win of the season. Stuck at 0-3-4, we face off tomorrow against fellow cellar-dwellers, LK St. Clair, who has just 1 point on the season (0-1-4).

TEAM NEWS

  • Vince Bruno and Matt VerSteeg, the center back pairing with the most appearances this year are both out for tomorrow’s match
  • Dylan Turner and Drew Terhune are back in the 18 for their 2nd appearances of the season
  • With a lack of forwards available, Pat Smith will lead the line
  • If he starts, Peter Arton will make his 3rd straight start in net

Double Matchday Weekend | MWPL & Amateur Cup Preview

LCFC heads into a packed weekend with two matches in both league play and the 2nd Round of the Amateur Cup. We look to get things back on track against LK St. Clair after the heavy 4-1 loss to West Michigan Bearings last weekend.

Based in Mount Clemens, Michigan, this will be LK St. Clair’s first league match of the season. A local foe and Michigan Premier Soccer League (MPSL) rival, both clubs are quite familiar with one another.

Due to the Amateur Cup match being rescheduled to this Sunday, LCFC and LSC will kick off Friday at 8 PM, one day earlier than originally scheduled. Friday’s game will also be the club’s first at our new home field, Schoolcraft College.

We’ll also have tickets available for the first time this season! With this being our first game at Schoolcraft College, we’d like to remind fans that masks will be required and we ask everyone to please practice safe social distancing. There will also be a limit of 250 fans in attendance at the remaining games this season. Tickets for Friday’s game are available at this link: bit.ly/3t3G3tH.

While all focus is on Friday’s match first, we’ll take on Ann Arbor FC, a club we’re undefeated against, this Sunday in Toledo, Ohio (seriously).
